An Ohio native, Erin came to Boulder, Colorado after completing a Master's degree in Environmental
Science from Miami University of Ohio. She has managed to find herself on tropical islands around the world quite often and has used her travel and science background to stay involved in research projects that focus on coral reef ecology and citizen education. Erin's first exposure to a coral reef came in high school when she traveled to Andros Island, Bahamas for a spring break marine ecology course. After a week of seeing reef creatures in the wild for the first time, she knew that the Bahamas would not be her last stop and has since traveled around the world and become an experienced diver. In addition to falling in love with corals, her interest in how watershed management influences coastal and reef ecosystems led to a graduate degree concentrating on applied ecology and several teaching opportunities that promoted sustainability in the Cuyahoga River watershed. She's looking forward to becoming part of the T4O community and building further connections for T4O when she heads to Washington, D.C. next year as a Knauss Marine Policy Fellow with Sea Grant and NOAA executive agencies.
